Assistant Headteacher job summary

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher to join our dedicated leadership team from April 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated leader to play a key role in supporting the Headteacher, driving school improvement, and ensuring the very best outcomes for our pupils. The successful candidate will be passionate about inclusive education, able to inspire colleagues, and committed to building on the school’s successes.

This is a fixed term position for one year .

As Interim Assistant Headteacher, you will:

Provide strategic leadership alongside the Headteacher and senior leaders

Support staff in delivering high-quality teaching and learning

Champion safeguarding, pupil wellbeing, and inclusion

Contribute to the continued development of our vibrant and supportive school community

We are looking for an inspiring leader who shares our vision and values, and who will bring energy, expertise, and a collaborative approach to our school. You will be an experienced and effective leader with proven impact at senior or middle leadership level, a skilled communicator who can motivate, support, and challenge staff, and someone who is passionate about safeguarding, inclusion, and the wellbeing of every child.

This post will suit someone who is eager to make a significant contribution to the life of our school, while further developing their own leadership practice in a supportive and ambitious environment.
