Assistant Headteacher job summary

RAF Benson Community Primary School is seeking to appoint a committed and capable Assistant Headteacher to join our leadership team from January 2026. This is a permanent post with a teaching responsibility in either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.

We are a a unique and exciting school that serves the immediate Service community and wider local area. We are proud of our strong values, high expectations and the positive relationships we build with children and families.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a proven leader with excellent classroom practitioner experience in Key Stage 1 and/or 2.
  • Demonstrate strong skills in leadership, communication and organisation
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the school while supporting the day-to-day management of staff and children.
  • Show commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and the wellbeing of all children.
  • Be able to motivate and inspire others, working effectively as part of a team.
  • Be committed to fostering a positive school culture.
