About this Role
St Barnabas CE School is seeking to appoint an inspiring, talented and professional leader to join our community in September as our new Assistant Headteacher! The successful candidate will be ready to take their next step in their career in a strong values-led school, and will be someone who displays a strong commitment to professional growth and the flourishing of all.
Our school gives children a wonderful introduction to school life - our EYFS provision is inspiring and children make excellent progress throughout Key Stage One. We are a ‘happy and caring school’, provides all pupils with a ‘strong start’ and there is a real ‘family feel’ to the school (Ofsted, September 2023). Children are known, loved and understood and all adults care and want the very best for every child in our school, having a shared understanding that every child can achieve Our school is an amazing place to learn and teach!
We are proud of our close links with St Barnabas Church and we also work very closely with Freeman's Endowed Church of England Junior Academy, which is where almost all of our children go for the next stage of their education. Additionally, both schools are led and managed by the same Headteacher - Our supportive leadership team are highly considerate of staff wellbeing and workload and strive to promote a positive working environment.
We are looking to recruit someone who:
- Has recent, successful experience in the classroom and is looking for an opportunity to take the next step in their leadership career.
- Has the skills to lead, improve and sustain academic achievement for all children, who has high expectations for children’s learning, and can foster collaborative working and living our values every day.
- Is up to date with current research around Quality First Teaching and Early Years practice.
- Ensures all children feel safe, happy and able to learn to the best of their ability and reach their potential.
- Has the ability to develop effective relationships with pupils, parents and external agencies in order to support pupils’ smooth transition into school
- Embraces, and is knowledgeable about inclusion
- Has good knowledge of the curriculum and has high expectations of children's learning and outcomes and how to achieve them
- Understands and is committed to pupils' pastoral needs and behaviour management
- Has the ability to work effectively, flexibly, and independently and above all is a committed team member
- Is an enthusiastic individual who supports and challenges positively, driving change for the benefit of all.

St Barnabas is a proud member of PDET, alongside 35 other schools in the Rutland, Peterborough and Northamptonshire area. PDET is responsible for employing all staff and managing the finances and other central services for the Academies in the Trust. These services include HR support; facilities and premises; procurement and school effectiveness.
