What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic, thorough and meticulous Assistant Business Manager who has high standards and is good at organising and motivating staff, managing whole school finance and supporting the Headteacher and trust’s Chief Finance Officer in the effective running of the school.

The person appointed will take responsibility for overseeing the financial and administrative management of the school. The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of school/primary school finance
  • Have experience of managing and supporting a small team
  • Have excellent office and IT skills
  • Have the ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Have a flexible and positive nature and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Have the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Have excellent communication skills.

Job Overview
We are looking for a highly organised, approachable and committed Business Support Officer to join our friendly and dedicated team at SS Peter and Paul’s Catholic Primary School. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is reliable, detail-focused, and motivated by the chance to contribute to the smooth and effective running of a vibrant and caring school community.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and the Assistant School Business Manager, you will provide vital administrative support across a range of business functions including Human Resources, Payroll, Admissions, and Attendance. Your role will be central in supporting staff, children and families in an environment rooted in our Catholic values of kindness, respect and service.
The ideal candidate will:
• Have experience working in a busy school or office environment
• Be confident in handling confidential HR and payroll processes
• Be highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities calmly and efficiently
• Have excellent IT and administrative skills, including familiarity with systems such as Arbor or similar MIS
• Be a strong communicator with a positive and proactive approach
• Be able to work collaboratively as part of a team and also independently
• Have a flexible and professional attitude with a commitment to high standards
