Assistant SENDCo job summary

Bridgnorth Endowed School and Lakelands Academy, Ellesmere are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Assistant SENDCo (QTS) to support the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision across the schools. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about removing barriers to learning and ensuring the very best outcomes for all pupils.

The post is offered on a split basis of 2.5 days at each school per week. For the right candidate, there is also the option to work part-time, at Bridgnorth Endowed School for 2.5 days. Both schools are members of The 3-18 Education Trust. This full-time option offers a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively across two supportive school communities and to develop expertise across a wider range of settings and provision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the SENDCO(s) in the day-to-day operation of the SEND provision, including maintaining accurate records and the SEND register
  • Assisting in the identification, assessment and monitoring of pupils with SEND, including liaising with teachers, parents/carers and external agencies
  • Help coordinate Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), annual reviews and associated documentation
  • Support/design the planning and delivery of high-quality interventions to meet the needs of individual pupils
  • Work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure reasonable adjustments and effective provision are in place across the curriculum
  • Contribute to a culture of high aspiration, inclusion and safeguarding for all pupils with additional needs
  • Where working across both sites, help share best practice and consistency of SEND provision between the two schools
