What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an experienced Attendance Manager to join our dedicated academy team at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden. This role would suit an individual with experience in school-based attendance management who is confident in monitoring attendance data, identifying patterns and trends, working with students and families to improve attendance, and supporting the academy in meeting its attendance targets.

The actual salary for this role will be £30,192.51 - £32,035.22 (39 weeks per year, 37.5 hours per week).

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • A degree-level qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a school, academy or educational setting, ideally in an attendance-focused role
  • Strong knowledge of attendance policies, procedures, attendance codes and statutory requirements
  • Experience managing attendance systems, records and reporting, including analysing and presenting attendance data
  • Good working knowledge of Management Information Systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience building positive relationships with students, parents, carers and external agencies
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable and disadvantaged young people
  • Experience leading attendance interventions and supporting improved attendance outcomes
  • Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with welfare, safeguarding and pastoral teams
  • Basic first aid knowledge or a willingness to undertake training
  • A proactive, resilient and solution-focused approach, with the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally and effectively

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and delivery of the Academy's attendance and punctuality strategy
  • Acting as the Academy's Senior Attendance Champion, driving a culture of high attendance and continuous improvement
  • Managing and developing the Attendance Team to ensure effective and compliant practice
  • Monitoring attendance data, identifying trends and implementing targeted interventions to improve outcomes
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory attendance requirements and maintaining accurate records and reporting
  • Overseeing daily attendance processes, including absence monitoring and first-day response procedures
  • Working with pupils, families and staff to address barriers to attendance and punctuality
  • Leading attendance meetings, action plans, home visits and other intervention strategies
  • Building positive relationships with parents and carers to support improved attendance
  • Coordinating formal and legal attendance processes in partnership with local authorities and external agencies
  • Working closely with safeguarding, pastoral and welfare teams to support vulnerable students
  • Maintaining oversight of the academy roll and pupil admissions records
  • Producing attendance reports and analysis for senior leaders, governors and pastoral teams
  • Contributing to attendance, pastoral and leadership meetings, providing updates on interventions and outcomes
  • Promoting and celebrating good attendance through effective communication and recognition initiatives
