What skills and experience we're looking for

We have an opportunity for an Attendance Officer to join our team. Since the educational restructure in the local area in 2022, we have welcomed over 300 new students and over 40 staff into our community and are now a secondary school of nearly 800 learners across Years 7-13.

As we now continue to increase the number of students at Wadham School we are seeking more colleagues to become part of our journey to help grow capacity in delivering exceptional teaching, learning and pastoral care for our students.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

  • Work with accuracy and efficiency in registering our students in a fast-paced environment to ensure that all students are safeguarded
  • Follow the school’s ‘First Day Contact’ policy and represent the school as the point of contact for all absences, speaking with parents/carers
  • Maintain accurate systems and reports (Using Arbor systems)
  • Assist in improving student attendance and support engagement into education
  • Undertake home and school visits as designated by the Educational Welfare Officer
  • Liaise with colleagues and support child protection, with regular update training where required

You are likely to be someone who:

  • Can engage with students and their families to build a strong, trusting and reliable link to the school, upholding policies and promoting student welfare
  • Can create professional letters to parents/carers seeking explanations to unauthorised absences and follow up in a timely manner
  • Works well on own initiative and thrives within a small and supportive team
  • Remains calm and professional at all times
  • Is punctual, reliable and enjoys a busy and energetic workplace
