Attendance Officer job summary
The Governors and Principal of our school are seeking to appoint an attendance officer who will be responsible for driving our attendance strategy across the school and be the link person between school and pupils/parents in relation to attendance.
The applicant requires someone with good written, verbal, organisational and IT skills to ensure deadlines are achieved.
The post holder will carry out a range of administrative duties, including:
- Driving the school’s attendance strategy
- Maintaining a body of evidence, including absence reports/referrals
- Analysing absence data to identify patterns
- Carrying out home visits to pupils with attendance concerns
- Meeting regularly with pupils’ families with concerning/declining attendance
- Attending senior leadership meetings
- Minute taking in meetings
- Producing letters/newsletters
- Recording and managing pupil attendance data and contact parents regarding pupils’ absence
- Completing and sharing information with external bodies
The successful candidate will require the following qualifications:
- GCSE Maths and English grades (4 – 9) or equivalent qualification
- Excellent ICT skills
- Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative with minimum supervision
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with adults and children
- Confident and competent in the use of all aspects of MS Office
- An active interest in young people and education
- A proven track record of good attendance

Starting Grade: D - 6 Actual Salary £15,036.77 per annum for part time and term time working.
Appointments made are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references being received. References will be requested prior to interview.
