Attendance Officer job summary
Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more
Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.
We are looking to recruit an Attendance Officer who will play a key role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school. Working closely with pupils, families, and staff, you will support children and families to remove barriers to attendance, ensuring pupils are safe, engaged, and able to access learning.
As Attendance Officer, you will join our pastoral team who play a key role in improving student attendance across the academy. You'll get to know pupils and families, picking up the phone, writing letters, and visiting homes to understand why a pupil isn't in school — and working out what will help. You'll dig into attendance data to spot patterns early, run group work and interventions for pupils and families, and build strong relationships with Norfolk County Council, the Youth Offending Team, Safer Schools, Social Services, and colleagues across the Academy's pastoral team.
We're looking for someone who can build empathetic relationships with children and families even in difficult conversations — who's also organised, self-motivated, and confident working with data. You'll need to be resilient under pressure, comfortable collaborating across teams and agencies. Experience working with vulnerable children or young people is a real advantage.
