Attendance Officer job summary

Join Our Team as an Attendance Officer

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Attendance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving attendance and punctuality across the school, ensuring our students meet or exceed national expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive improvement of attendance and punctuality throughout the school.
  • Challenge and monitor persistent absences, and communicate with parents/carers.
  • Conduct home visits as necessary and support pupils with attendance difficulties.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and collaborate with staff to promote high levels of attendance.
  • Prepare absence letters, record late marks, and ensure all registers are completed accurately.
  • Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team, SENCOs, Designated Safeguarding Lead, and other relevant staff regarding students of concern.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships between home and school to address non-attendance issues.

Person Specification:

  • Essential: GCSE English and Mathematics grade C/4 or above, excellent communication and organisational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Desirable: Experience in a similar role, knowledge of attendance regulations, and a full clean driving licence.

At Hartley Brook we have high expectations of both learning and progress and ensure children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential. We have an inclusive curriculum and all children regardless of their ability are able to access all areas of the curriculum.
