The Role
As our Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students and their families to improve attendance and engagement with learning. You will work closely with the Student Services Team, teachers, and parents to promote the importance of regular attendance and take proactive steps to overcome barriers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out first-day absence calls and home visits to support and engage families
- Maintaining accurate attendance records and case studies
- Supporting intervention plans and contributing to evidence for formal processes
- Monitoring and analysing attendance data to identify patterns and areas for improvement
- Building strong relationships with students, families, and external agencies
- Providing First Aid within school (training provided if needed)
This role requires excellent communication skills, empathy, attention to detail, and the confidence to work independently and collaboratively.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Organised, approachable, and proactive in supporting students and families
- Able to manage sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality
- Skilled in using ICT systems (experience with SIMS or similar is desirable)
- Knowledgeable about attendance procedures and statutory requirements
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Experience in an educational or family-support environment is desirable, but not essential — what matters most is your commitment to making a difference.
