Are you motivated by the challenge of improving student attendance? Do you have the communication skills to engage effectively with parents, students and staff?

The Role

Watling Academy is seeking an organised and efficient Attendance Officer to join our team and assist in supporting and improving student attendance. As an Attendance Officer, you will:

  • Implement strategies to support and improve student attendance, promoting regular and punctual attendance through both formal and informal processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory frameworks related to school attendance, offering informed advice to parents, carers, staff and external organisations.
  • Act as a key contact for attendance matters, providing guidance to families, school leadership and external organisations on attendance policies and procedures
  • Accurately record, report and monitor student absences, ensuring a prompt response by contacting home when students are not reported absent but fail to attend school.
  • Produce attendance improvement plans for students with frequent absence to support their return to regular attendance at school.

Opening in September 2020, our school is a new and vibrant learning community for students aged 11-18.
