You will play a key role in promoting a positive culture of attendance and maintaining accurate, statutory attendance records in line with academy policy and legislation. The attached job description and person specification provide full details of the responsibilities and expectations.

The Attendance Officers will work closely with parents and carers to improve attendance outcomes, ensuring pupils are supported, monitored, and encouraged to engage fully with academy life. About you:

You will have:

  • An understanding of the wide range of issues that can impact a young person’s attendance and a willingness to stay informed of developments in this area.

  • Strong administrative experience, including maintaining accurate records, following processes, handling sensitive information, and working to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent ICT skills, including the ability to analyse data, input information accurately, and produce high‑quality reports and statistics.
  • The ability to build strong, professional relationships with students, parents/carers, academy staff, and external agencies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage challenging or sensitive conversations professionally.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve attendance targets and improve outcomes for pupils.
  • Full, clean driving licence with daily access to a vehicle and willingness to obtain business insurance.

About Winterstoke Hundred Academy:

Winterstoke Hundred Academy is named after the historic parish of Weston-super-Mare and launched as a new 11-19 Academy in September 2020, admitting pupils for the first time in that year into Year 7 and Year 12. The academy is growing year by year, and we have been very pleased that our incoming cohorts in Year 7 have been oversubscribed in consecutive years, while our post-16 applications also show significant growth. We recently opened a state-of-the-art, net-zero building at Locking Parklands for Years 7-11, with post-16 education continuing at the original Beaufighter Road site.

Winterstoke Hundred Academy (WHA) is named after the historic parish of Weston-super-Mare. We are a smaller scaler 11-19 academy, offering a curriculum which celebrates prior learning whilst preparing learners for the challenges of the future. We work closely with our family of partner schools in the Trust, and believe strongly in the importance and benefits of collaboration. Winterstoke Hundred has benefited from funding which has enabled an entirely bespoke and brand new additional site to be built less than a mile away, in Locking Parklands. This will open between 2023 and 2024, and will enable the strengths of each site to be enjoyed by all students. This is a particularly exciting time for WHA - as a new academy, in new buildings, and with new students, we are seizing the opportunity to shape the landscape for our learners, to deliver an exceptional educational experience, and to enable them to fulfil their potential.
