Behaviour and Inclusion Lead job summary

Bilton CofE Junior School

Behaviour and Inclusion Lead

Grade I | Permanent

Are you passionate about helping children to thrive, particularly those who find school, relationships or learning more challenging? We are looking for an experienced, positive and practical Behaviour and Inclusion Lead to join our team at Bilton CE Junior School, and be a part of the wider Bilton Community Federation. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference to children and to the adults who work with them. We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships with pupils, work alongside staff in classrooms, coordinate effective pastoral support and help us develop consistently strong approaches to behaviour and inclusion across the school.

About the role

Our Behaviour and Inclusion Lead will play a key role in bringing together our work around behaviour, pastoral support, SEND, safeguarding, attendance and support for families. You will work closely with our Head of School, SENDCo, Home School Support Worker, safeguarding team, teaching staff and pastoral colleagues to make sure children receive the right support at the right time. This is very much a hands-on leadership role. Alongside developing systems and coordinating support, you will work directly with pupils and staff, model effective practice, coach colleagues and help translate good ideas into things that make a difference in the classroom.

You will:

lead and develop our approach to behaviour and inclusion

help identify children who need additional support at an early stage

coordinate pastoral and inclusion support for vulnerable pupils

develop and evaluate behaviour and SEMH interventions

work alongside teachers and support staff to strengthen inclusive classroom practice

coach and model effective approaches with colleagues

help ensure behaviour, SEND, safeguarding, attendance and family support work effectively together

use information and evidence to identify patterns and improve provision

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is calm, relational, child-centred and solutions-focused, while maintaining high expectations for all pupils. You will need experience of supporting children with behavioural, SEMH or pastoral needs and of planning and delivering targeted support or interventions. You should be comfortable working collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals, and able to support, coach and build confidence in colleagues.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who sees beyond behaviour and asks:

“What does this child need in order to succeed"

An opportunity to grow the role

Initially, the role will be firmly focused on developing excellent practice within Bilton CE Junior School. As the role develops and impact is demonstrated, there will be opportunities to share effective practice and contribute to the development of behaviour, inclusion and pastoral approaches more widely across Bilton Community Federation.

So, if you are someone who enjoys working directly with children, gets the best from colleagues and wants the opportunity to shape provision rather than simply operate within it, we would really like to hear from you.
