About the Behaviour Mentor Role

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with colleagues to support behaviour management and improvement systems, enabling students to achieve their full potential.

You will join an established team of Behaviour Mentors and work collaboratively within an allocated year group team. You will use a variety of approaches including mentoring sessions, classroom support and reflection activities to help students refocus, learn to contain disruptive behaviours and get the best from their studies. There will be the opportunity to lead on a specialist area of focus and to have a role in training and developing other colleagues. You will be involved too in regular duties around the school - first aid, breakfast club, break and lunch duties - and will support detentions after classes.

The requirements for the role include a background working with students of varying abilities. You must be able to motivate young people and build sound, professional relationships with them, within appropriate boundaries and confidentiality guidelines. In addition, your communication skills will ensure that you are able to meaningfully support parents/carers, and liaise effectively with a range of external agencies and statutory bodies. Knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection policies and procedures is essential.

Successful applicants will have a genuine passion for working with and supporting young people. You will have good problem solving skills and sound judgement in handling challenging behaviours and investigating incidents. Your admin and IT skills will include attention to detail in planning, confidence with the use of software applications, and the ability to produce accurate records and timely reports.
