We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Behaviour Outreach Practitioner to join our pastoral team at Thameside Primary School and to work across Thurrock primary schools on a 1‑year fixed contract. The role focuses on supporting individuals with emotional, social, or behavioural needs, helping them develop positive strategies that enable them to thrive at school, at home, and in the community. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference through evidence‑informed interventions and early support.

As this role supports SEND provision across Thurrock primary schools, you will be part of a nurturing and inclusive Trust with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for all children. We are a forward‑thinking organisation that champions high‑quality, consistent SEND support across all our schools.

As a Behaviour Outreach Practitioner, you will:

  • Provide tailored behavioural support to individuals with complex needs, including those with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, or mental health challenges
  • Work directly with pupils displaying challenging behaviour to help remove barriers to learning
  • Support individuals to develop life skills, manage emotions, and increase independence and social inclusion.
  • Conduct functional behaviour assessments and contribute to the development of positive behaviour support plans.
  • Offer strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Support class teams and leadership in developing consistent, whole-school approaches
  • Work in partnership with families, schools, and other agencies to implement and monitor behaviour strategies.
  • Play a key role in promoting inclusion and positive outcomes for all pupils
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of sessions, reports and outcomes using appropriate documentation systems in a timely manner
  • Participate in regular supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing training to maintain and develop skills.
  • Promote safeguarding and uphold the dignity, rights, and well-being of all individuals supported.
  • This role is ideal for someone with experience in behaviour management, social and emotional learning, or a background in education, youth work, social care, or mental health support.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience working with individuals with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties.
  • Knowledge of positive behaviour support, trauma-informed approaches, or other relevant frameworks.
  • The ability to assess needs and develop person-centred behaviour strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport.
  • Calmness, patient, and resilience under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for inclusive education and supporting all learners
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Relevant qualifications or training in behaviour support, de-escalation strategies, or therapeutic approaches (e.g. Team Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice) - desirable but not essential
  • A full clean driving license and has access to a vehicle. (Essential)
