Business Support Officer - Part Time job summary

Scale: Grade 5
Hours: 16 - 20 hours per week, term time only
Contract Type: Temporary 18 months (this could be extended, subject to budget approval)

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a friendly and supportive school community where children are at the heart of everything we do. The role requires an individual who is committed to providing high-quality administrative support and exceptional customer service to pupils, families, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will join an established team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the school's administrative functions. You will be the first point of contact for many visitors and families and therefore must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, alongside a professional and welcoming manner.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing administrative and business support across the school.
  • Delivering a professional and welcoming reception service.
  • Managing telephone, email and visitor enquiries.
  • Maintaining accurate records and filing systems.
  • Supporting meetings, events and communications.
  • Working effectively with a range of school information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Supporting safeguarding procedures and always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Working closely with children, e.g. helping with the management of lunchtime.

  • Is highly organised, accurate and able to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Has a positive, flexible and proactive approach.
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Is committed to supporting the wellbeing and success of all pupils.
  • Previous experience in an administrative role is essential. Experience of working within a school environment is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided where required.
