Caretaker / Handyperson job summary
We have an opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Caretaker to work at Wilton CE Primary School. The successful candidate will be a person of integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality and remain impartial whilst being sympathetic to others, with a willingness for personal development and flexible working.
The post is for 20 hours, per week, 40 weeks per year.
Please note that:
- We would be willing to explore flexible working patterns for the right candidate.
- There is potential of additional hours and responsibility.
- Although you will be based at Wilton, there is a requirement to work at other local DSAT locations within the Hub.
Main Responsibilities:
- To carry out a range of duties to contribute to the security, safety, and maintenance of school premises, under the general supervision of the Spire Hub Business Manager.
- To ensure the schools’ buildings and furnishings are safe, secure, and maintained to standards defined by the school and Health and Safety legislation, determined by the Senior Leadership Team.
- To plan, organise and inspect all works relating to the general site management ensuring that the schools’ accommodation is fit for purpose.
- To carry out safety checks and ensure health and to ensure the school is compliant with health and safety regulations.
Main Duties:
- Site Security including being a key holder, arranging checks, identifying and reporting site issues and taking site deliveries.
- To use all cleaning materials and equipment.
- Cleaning equipment and chemicals will be used on a regular basis.
- To work without direct supervision due to the times of work and/or nature of the duties.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, confident and capable with a positive approach to their work. Health and Safety experience is preferable but not required as full training will be given.
