Make a Real Difference Every Day — Caretaker Needed!

Why join The Parkside School?

At The Parkside School, we do work that truly matters. Located in Norwich, we are a thriving, compassionate specialist school dedicated to empowering young people with significant learning and intellectual disabilities. Every single member of our team—from our teachers to our site staff—plays a vital role in creating a safe, inspiring environment where our pupils build independence, learn to communicate, and grow in confidence.

When you join Parkside, you’re not just looking after a building. You’re building the safe, welcoming backdrop where extraordinary young people learn, laugh, and achieve incredible personal milestones every day.

The role: keep our world running smoothly

We are seeking a proactive, energetic, and practical Caretaker to join our dedicated team.

Working from 12:00 PM to 6:30 PM, you’ll be the heartbeat of our afternoon operations and evening wrap-up. You will make sure our classrooms, outdoor spaces, and specialized facilities stay safe, clean, and fully operational—giving our pupils and staff the perfect setting to thrive.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Creating a Safe Haven: Take pride in locking up, securing the site, and maintaining alarm systems so our school community is always safe and sound.
  • Solving Everyday Challenges: Handle hands-on repairs, furniture setups, and general handyperson tasks to keep the day running seamlessly.
  • Maintaining High Standards: Work alongside our site team to ensure our learning spaces are spotlessly clean, hygienic, and ready for action.
  • Welcoming Our Community: Assist visiting contractors, support evening lettings, and help bring the broader community into our school space.
  • Keeping Things Moving: Ensure heating, lighting, and specialized equipment are operating smoothly throughout the afternoon.

Who we’re looking for

  • A Practical Problem-Solver: You love rolling up your sleeves, fixing things, and taking pride in a job well done.
  • A Warm, Reliable Team Player: You bring positive energy, dependability, and a welcoming attitude to our school community.
  • Safety-Conscious: You understand the importance of Health & Safety and keeping a site secure.
  • Adaptable & Flexible: You enjoy a varied work day where no two afternoons are quite the same.

What we offer

  • Purpose-Driven Work: A deeply rewarding role where your effort directly impacts the lives and well-being of wonderful young people.
  • A Supportive Community: A friendly, close-knit staff team that values every member's contribution.
  • Work-Life Balance: Consistent, predictable afternoon/evening hours (12:00 PM – 6:30 PM).
