Catering Assistant job summary

Term-time only + Training Days. Monday - Friday, 10.15am - 2.15pm

We’re looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to become part of our dynamic catering team.

‘Children who eat a healthy, balanced diet are better able to concentrate, retain information, and perform well academically. At Crawshaw Academy, we are 100% committed to providing the best nutrition for our students, to support their learning and development’

The beauty of our catering offering at Crawshaw Academy is, as much as possible, we create our products in house. This means we have the autonomy to try new and exciting ideas, as well as having the agility to change things quickly if they are not working! Our skilled team provides nutritious, balanced meals that are both delicious and affordable. Our goal is to foster a lasting culture of healthy eating, helping students thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Our team is made up of our Head Chef, who is accountable for all aspects, supported by our in-house Baker and 2 Senior Catering Assistants managing the rest of the team (10 people in total). We are the very definition of team players, who are well accustomed to the changes of pace a school day brings. The promotion of our last three leaders reflects our strong commitment to nurturing talent and supporting individuals in reaching their full potential." Our intention is always to be customer focussed, whilst putting a smile on both ours and our customer’s faces.

We are looking for a friendly, hardworking Catering Assistant who enjoys the energy of a busy school setting. This role involves regular interaction with students, so strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude are essential.

Our staff take the time to really know each student, recognising their strengths, nurturing their talents, and encouraging them to do their best.

We value the opportunities learning beyond the classroom can bring. Through a wide range of extracurricular activities, from sport and the arts to trips and performances, students are able to discover new interests, build friendships, and develop important skills such as teamwork, leadership, and resilience. These experiences also help students gain a greater understanding of different cultures, traditions, and ways of life.

We set high standards because we care. We know what helps young people succeed, and we provide the right balance of challenge, guidance, and support so every student feels confident, supported, and able to thrive.

Here’s what you can expect when you join us:

  • Generous pension scheme: Employer contribution rate of 19%, plus a wide range of benefits and discounts. Full details HERE
