George Salter Academy are seeking to appoint a creative and highly organised Catering Managerwith excellent culinary skills to lead our busy school kitchen and deliver a high‑quality, healthy, and enjoyable food service to our students and staff.
The role is 35 hours per week, term time plus 2 additional weeks. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional who is passionate about fresh food, nutrition, and providing an outstanding dining experience in a secondary school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day‑to‑day running of the school kitchen and dining service.
- Plan and prepare healthy, balanced menus that meet school food standards.
- Lead, motivate, and supervise the catering team to ensure a positive working environment.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen management practices.
- Manage stock control, ordering, and budgeting in line with school requirements.
- Ensure meals are delivered efficiently during busy service periods.
- Liaise with school leadership to support whole‑school events and functions.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience in catering management or a similar supervisory role.
- A relevant food hygiene and catering qualification (e.g., Level 3 Food Hygiene).
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to lead a team and work well under pressure.
- A commitment to promoting healthy eating and providing excellent service.
