What skills and experience we're looking for

We are a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) formed as part of the commitment by the Diocese of Oxford to excellent education for academies. Operating across Buckinghamshire, including Milton Keynes, we are building a successful MAT attractive to both church and non-church schools. We are currently a family of twelve schools with an ambitious and exciting programme of growth. Our vision is centered on empowering our unique schools to excel. We provide rich opportunities for our pupils and staff to learn and develop and have strong local leadership that is supported and challenged by ODBST. Our values of inclusivity, service, community, and empowerment underpin this vision.

We are looking for a Challenge Partner to contribute to the achievement of ODBST’s vision by sharing responsibility with the shared service team, Director of Education and Chief Executive for the highest standards of education and the development of core values in ODBST schools. This is a key role in maintaining high quality educational standards within our growing organisation, ensuring effectiveness of ODBST services and formulating and delivering ODBST Education Policy and training materials.

You will be responsible for:

¡ Contributing to improving standards within schools through the provision of school improvement advice

¡ Supporting the development and maintenance of effective school improvement systems and strategies

¡ Leading on the outcomes for vulnerable learners including those with SEND and those in receipt of the PPG

¡ Supporting, advising and challenging head teachers, governors and staff of ODBST schools

¡ Providing in-service training for head teachers, staff and governors on a range of subjects

What the school offers its staff

As an employee of the Oxford Diocesan Bucks Schools Trust you will work with inspirational colleagues who are focused on delivering a broad, enriched and exciting curriculum, coupled with a shared zest for life and learning. We are an inclusive employer that embraces diversity and encourages everyone to discover and grow their talents to be the best they can be.

Further details about the role

The role is offered on a part time basis working 30 hours per week, which may include evenings. There is the opportunity for the successful candidate to select their own working pattern, subject to agreement by the Trust. Based at Stoke Mandeville, you will need to be able to travel across Buckinghamshire including Milton Keynes and will also be able to work from home on occasion.

ODBST is made up of our family of schools, belonging to one ambitious and aspirational Trust. We have a clear focus on school improvement. Our mission is to empower our unique schools to excel. We want our children and young people to be able to ‘experience life in all its fullness’ and although this is rooted in a Christian narrative (taken from John 10:10), irrespective of a faith perspective, that is what all of us want for our pupils. This has been borne out by the community schools that have chosen to join ODBST, signing up to the vision and values that have children at their core. The trust exists for families with faith and none and regardless of any faith perspective we invest in our pupils’ spiritual development. Our schools exist to serve their community. We want our pupils to achieve all that they possibly can and, in doing so, that they and their families experience the best quality of education and care. We strive to foster a great sense of belonging in our schools so that pupils, parents, staff and the wider community all feel proud to be part of the family.

Through our Trust, we offer unrivalled opportunities for professional development and networking for teaching and support staff. We have cultivated a strong and supportive environment for our schools that utilises the collective skills and knowledge of our Headteachers and practitioners, enabling our schools to achieve high educational standards.
