The responsibilities of the post are to be performed in accordance with the provisions of the most up-to-date edition of the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document and within the range of teachers’ duties set out in that document and in the national Teachers’ Standards.
Role Purpose
To provide high-quality teaching and learning that enables all pupils to make excellent progress and achieve their potential. The successful candidate will create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment, deliver an ambitious curriculum and contribute to the wider life of the school.
The postholder will demonstrate high expectations, strong subject knowledge and a commitment to meeting the needs of all learners through effective teaching, assessment and positive relationships.

- Experience of teaching within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Teaching, Learning and Classroom Management
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all pupils.
- Create a stimulating and purposeful learning environment.
- Set high expectations for learning, behaviour and presentation.
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and disadvantaged pupils.
- Use effective questioning and feedback to deepen learning.
- Promote independence, resilience and a positive attitude to learning.
- Use resources creatively, including technology, to enhance learning.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and establish a positive classroom culture.
- Provide opportunities for learning beyond the classroom where appropriate.
- Foster pupils' personal, social, emotional and cultural development.
Planning and Curriculum Delivery
Prepare and deliver well-structured lessons aligned to the school's curriculum.
Ensure progression, challenge and ambition for all learners.
Set clear learning objectives and success criteria.
Use the school's agreed planning systems effectively.
Work collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum development.
Prepare resources efficiently and make effective use of support staff.
Promote cross-curricular links and meaningful learning experiences.
Consider health, safety and wellbeing in all planning.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
Implement the school's assessment policy to monitor attainment and progress.
Use formative and summative assessment effectively to inform teaching.
Record and analyse pupil achievement data.
Identify pupils requiring additional support or challenge.
Adapt teaching in response to assessment information.
Produce high-quality reports for parents and carers.
Participate in pupil progress meetings and target setting processes.
Relationships and Communication
Build positive, effective partnerships with parents/carers and keep them informed.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, trustees, and external agencies.
Represent the school positively in the wider community.
Support transition arrangements between year groups, key stages and partner settings where appropriate.
Professional Development and Performance
Take responsibility for their own professional learning and development.
Participate in school-based and external training opportunities.
Engage in the annual Performance Management process.
Share good practice and support the development of colleagues.
Stay informed about developments in education, curriculum and pedagogy.
Wider Responsibilities
Support whole-school initiatives and take part in school events, meetings, and activities.
Contribute to the development of curriculum areas as agreed with SLT.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times.
Ensure the safety, well-being, and safeguarding of all pupils in line with statutory requirements and school policy.
Take on any additional responsibilities, as reasonably requested by the Headteacher, that are commensurate with the grade and nature of the role.
Safeguarding and Equalities
Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures, and report any concerns promptly.
Promote equality and diversity in all aspects of the role.
Ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive in an inclusive learning environment.
