Class Teacher job summary

About us

Bosley St Mary's is a small Church of England primary school in rural Cheshire, part of Chester Diocesan Academies Trust (CDAT). We're rated Good by Ofsted (March 2023) and our most recent SIAMS Inspection (March 2025) praised our “loving community where individuals are valued and supported”. We’re proud of both of these. Prouder still of the children: curious, funny, resilient, and full of character. Families travel here from Congleton, the Macclesfield villages and across the Staffordshire border, often past other schools, and we don't take that for granted.

About the role

From September 2026 we're growing our teaching capacity so children can be taught core subjects, reading, writing and maths, in smaller, more closely focused groups. We're recruiting an additional part-time teacher to help make that happen.

We're keeping the exact shape of the role open at this stage. It might mean a new small mixed-age group, or a part-time role within one of our existing classes as we reshape how groups are organised. If hours or year group are a question mark for you, apply anyway and let's talk. Full detail is in the accompanying Job Description and Person Specification.

What we're looking for
  • Qualified Teacher Status

  • A teacher who wants to properly know their pupils, not just teach them

  • Comfort adapting teaching for a wide range of starting points, including SEND

  • Warmth, consistency, and a healthy sense of humour, essential kit for any small school

  • Someone who wants a genuine voice in a close team, not just a job to slot into

What we offer
  • A real say in shaping a developing teaching structure

  • Small classes and close relationships with pupils and families

  • A friendly team who back each other through the wet Tuesdays as well as the good days

  • Strong CPD support from Bosley and CDAT

  • A beautiful rural working environment

  • Best of all, brilliant children who will make you smile every day

Show-arounds and finding out more

This recruitment falls in the summer holidays, and the Headteacher will be away for part of the window, so we can't respond to individual queries in the meantime. Instead we're offering one show-around date, Thursday 6th August, and a detailed About Bosley pack for candidates, covering our approach, our team and a typical day. Please read it before applying or attending the show-around.

If you wish to attend the show-around on 6th August, please complete this short form.
