Full Time – Permanent

Main Pay Scale (M1 £31,650 – M6 £43,607)

St Nicholas is a happy, child-centred school looking for a dedicated and passionate teacher to join our committed, nurturing team. Whilst currently an Infant School, we are at the beginning of an exciting journey, with a planned move to a brand new, purpose-built school in September 2026, where we will grow our school family to cover the full primary range. This is a long-awaited move for the school and we cannot wait to continue supporting children with their extended learning journey, enabling them to become the best they can be.

We have some flexibility within our current staff team and would love to hear from applicants interested in teaching in either Early Years, or KS1. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and innovative teacher. The successful applicant will share our school’s ethos and values and will themselves have a passion to see children flourish and achieve their potential. St Nicholas is a school where children’s characters, gifts and abilities are enabled to grow, and so we want the same for our staff. Being part of a thriving Multi-Academy Trust, the largest in Oxfordshire, opens up wider opportunities to support staff with their ongoing professional development.

We can offer:

Happy, enthusiastic children with a positive attitude to learning

A positive, caring working environment encompassing our ethos and values

Strong links with our community including wonderful parental support

Free access to a comprehensive and confidential Health & Wellbeing Service

Investment in continued professional development

The successful applicant will:

Be an excellent practitioner putting children at the heart of their work

Be able to inspire, motivate and challenge children to achieve their best

Be resilient and prepared to go the extra mile to make a difference to our children

Have outstanding interpersonal and organisational skills

Have high personal and professional standards, committing themselves to success through effort and teamwork

Be committed to the school’s Christian ethos, vision and values

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed, please contact the school to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Welcome to St Nicholas CE Infants' School. At St Nicholas we aim to provide the highest quality education to ensure the best outcomes for every individual child. We passionately believe that happy children make successful learners. Our Christian ethos underpins our work, helping to nurture your child on their journey through school.

We are a church school here to serve the whole community. With approximately 180 children, St Nicholas has been at the heart of Wallingford life for over fifty years. We pride ourselves on our caring ethos and dedicated staff who ensure that the children in our care receive the very best start to their education, enabling them to become the best they can be.

St Nicholas CE Infants' School joined Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust (ODST) as an academy on 1st April 2018. ODST was founded in 2012 from a commitment to excellent education for academies in the Oxford Diocese. The Trust has now grown into a large family serving over 6100 pupils and their families and communities.

The school is situated in grounds of approximately one acre. These are semi-wooded with a large copse, a grassy area and a pond. This diverse area enables the children to enjoy and learn in the outdoors as well as in the classroom.

We admit children into our nursery in the term after their 3rd birthday, and then into one of the two Reception classes in the academic year in which they turn 5 years old. The Early Years classes are large, bright and colourful and are surrounded by a variety of outdoor experiences – a sandpit, a slide and climbing frames. The children can ride bicycles, dig holes and develop their imaginative play alongside learning the basics of reading, writing and mathematics.

Play based and more formal activities continue as the children move into Year One and then into Year Two. Our interesting and creative curriculum is based upon themes which are developed alongside the children’s interests. The children are readily motivated to learn and staff take great care to ensure all children are given every opportunity to thrive.
