What skills and experience we're looking for
We are willing to consider applications from candidates available for part-time (0.7 or 0.8) or full-time. Some flexibility on working days may be possible for the successful candidate, if part-time. The successful candidate will be placed in either Reception, KS1 or KS2 according to their skills and experience.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual who is able to plan and deliver engaging and challenging learning, and who has high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
They will be a team player, keen to embrace our welcoming, supportive and very friendly staff culture, contribute to the wider aspects of school life, and will have a commitment to continually developing their skills and experience.

Birch Copse Primary School is a very successful, vibrant school of which we are very proud. We achieved an Ofsted rating of ‘outstanding’ in all five areas, in July 2024. The school is friendly, well supported by governors and parents, and is located in a pleasant residential area on the outskirts of Reading. There are 420 pupils on roll, organised into 6 Infant and 8 Junior classes. There are 2 classes for each Year Group, and each year group pair of teachers plan together.
The school is committed to ensuring that all pupils achieve the highest standards of attainment according to their ability in all subjects of the National Curriculum. The highest standards of behaviour and concentration in the classroom are expected. We always receive positive feedback from visitors to the school.
We have an exceptionally friendly, supportive and welcoming staff culture and hope all new members of staff will embrace this. CPD and staff wellbeing are key focus areas on an ongoing basis.
