What skills and experience we're looking for

Primary teaching experience

Experience of teaching pupils with SEND, including sensory processing and speech, language and communication challenges.

Experience of successfully managing teaching assistants and wider supporting professionals

A working knowledge of autism and its impacts on daily teaching and learning.

Knowledge and understanding of recent developments in curriculum and assessment.

Evidence of delivering successful teaching and learning with SEN pupils.

Good communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Ability to engage all levels of learners creatively in play activities to support social and communication skill development

A working knowledge of trauma informed practice and how this impacts on the daily life in a special school setting.

Understanding of the management of distressed pupil behaviour as a form of communication.
