What skills and experience we're looking for
- To plan and deliver a topic based Key Stage 3 curriculum to a dedicated group of students
- To demonstrate a nurturing approach to behaviour management and an understanding of complex needs and SEMH
- To regularly monitor and assess the progress of pupils, ensuring their improved engagement with the school and their learning
- To record progress and provide regular feedback to stakeholders.
- To liaise with parents and carers on progress and personal development
- To work in partnership with external agencies and providers including additional specialist provision
- To model and encourage appropriate social behaviour in and out of school and to cater for the general welfare of pupils
- To work in partnership with classroom teachers/deliverers to adapt and personalise appropriate learning and interventions for pupils in relation to the curriculum
Applicants should set out clearly how they meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience of planning and delivering learning activities across a range of curriculum subject areas
- Experience of working with children and young people in an educational setting to overcome barriers to their personal, social or learning development.
- Knowledge and understanding of pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties
- High expectations of young people, and a commitment to raising standards of attainment to ensure that they can achieve their full potential
- Experience of developing options and alternatives that will support children and young people to engage in the learning process
- Experience of managing challenging behaviour
- The emotional and physical resilience necessary when working with disaffected and challenging pupils with a range of complex needs
