Welcome to our school
Lythe C of E Primary School is a happy, welcoming, and growing school situated only 10 minutes’ drive from Whitby on the North Yorkshire Coast. Everyone who comes into Lythe School comments on the warm, welcoming atmosphere and we would love you to join our school and become part of our supportive, friendly, hard-working family. With our distinctively Christian ethos, we take a pride in helping everyone at Lythe School make the most of “life in all its fullness.”
Our unique setting, close to historic Whitby and with woodland, moorland and the beach within walking distance, allows us to offer extensive opportunities for creative teaching and learning. Our small classes, each with an experienced Teaching Assistant, allow our teachers to build great relationships that let children thrive.

Our opportunity
Our current teacher is moving on to other opportunities after a long career at Lythe School and we are now looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated and ambitious classroom teacher to provide excellent education within our growing KS1 and Lower KS2 phase.
Children come into the class having followed a highly child-led and play-based Early Years curriculum and we need someone who can build on this and ensure that children continue to flourish personally and academically as they move up through the school, following their own interests, developing strengths and becoming independent, resilient, ambitious learners.

We are very much excited about the future. As a school we are well placed to continue to achieve good outcomes for our children, and we want our new colleague to add their own ideas and skills to our school.
You will find a culture of team work, kindness and honesty where we strive every day to provide the very best education for our children.

What we can offer you:
We are now part of the exciting new Yorkshire Coast Education Partnership, which will give great opportunities to work with colleagues across other local schools to support your teaching and engage in high quality personal professional development.

We are also developing our subject leadership teams and this is a good opportunity for a teacher wishing to take on responsibility and make a real impact in a chosen area.

We can offer:
• Tailored support from our Headteacher, your fellow colleagues and development opportunities across the area in partnership with the Yorkshire Coast Education Partnership.
• An opportunity to see the unique and huge opportunity that exists here at Lythe School. All the support, energy and tenacity you will need is here for you to tap into.
• A warm, happy school where we value our community ethos and have a philosophy of treating each other with kindness and respect.
• Happy, enthusiastic and well-behaved children who thrive in a safe, caring and inspiring environment.
• A Whitby and wider community which, through the DFE Opportunity Area, has come together to share the best practice, and work together on early years, primary and secondary projects.

We are seeking a teacher who:
• Has a good knowledge and understanding of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum, including good personal subject and pedagogical knowledge.
• Is committed to professional development and works well with colleagues to continuously reflect on and improve their own knowledge and skills
• Has a proven track record of raising attainment and accelerating progress for all children, including SEND and the most able
• Has an engaging and dynamic style of teaching which fosters independence and resilience
• Is able to make the most of our coastal and rural setting to give excellent opportunities to all children
• Has high standards for behaviour and high expectations of what children can achieve
• Is able to build good relationships with the whole school community to help keep children safe and ensure that they thrive academically and personally
• Will support our distinctive Christian ethos
• Is able to contribute to subject leadership

Desirable:
• Experience of delivering a maths mastery curriculum
• Ability to lead English, Maths, PHSE or PE across the school
• Knowledge of the RWI phonics programme
• Any outdoor teaching qualification or experience, including Forest Schools
