What skills and experience we're looking for

Qualified teacher status

Evidence of further professional study in relation to pupils with special needs.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2 consecutive years of classroom teaching experience in either mainstream or special schools.

Experience of working with children with a range of Special Educational Needs.

Experience working collaboratively with a multi professional team including SLT, OT, PT.

KNOWLEDGE

Proven ability in teaching and adapting the curriculum effectively for pupils with a range of strengths and needs.

Knowledge & experience of devising/monitoring learning programmes, assessment, recording and reporting.

Understanding of using a trauma informed approach.

Experience of teaching the National Curriculum across different phases of education.

SPECIFIC SKILLS

The ability to teach, assess and advise.

The ability to work within a multidisciplinary setting and establish trusting relationships within the team.

The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form.

Sound knowledge of ICT and how to use it to drive forward pupil progress.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

Enthusiasm for developing knowledge and skills in working with pupils with acquired brain injury.

The willingness to work as part of a wider team, incorporating advice from other professionals.

Confident and calm personality.

Creative, dynamic approach.

Proactive and flexible to changing needs.

Willingness to participate in the development of the Surrey Teaching Centre.
