At Longman’s Hill CP School, we are committed to providing equality for all. We understand equality to mean treating everyone with equal dignity and worth, valuing their particular characteristics such as age, disability, gender, ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation and socio-economic circumstances. We understand that people have different needs, situations and goals. Achieving equality requires the removal of discriminatory barriers which may limit what people, especially children and young people, can do and can be. We recognise that inequality can be experienced in a variety of ways, affecting progress, access to services and independence in making life’s decisions; ultimately affecting lives and creating inequality of treatment and we strive to ensure this does not happen within our school community.

As a community school, we are keen to promote cohesion and to uphold and teach our children about British Values. These are defined as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths or no faith. These values are taught through PHSCE lessons and RE. We also take opportunities to promote these values through school worship and through the delivery of a broad curriculum, in which real opportunities to explore and understand these values are sought. You can read more about our curriculum through the curriculum tab from the homepage of the website.
