St Margaret’s is a Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School situated in Plumstead, South East London. There are approximately 330 children on roll including the Nursery class. In September 2016 we admitted 60 children of Reception age following the expansion of our school. Our roll will now increase year by year until we reach 2 FE.
The school is a part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and also the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education and we receive support and advice from both bodies.
The school is a rich multi-ethnic community. The largest ethnic group is Black African, predominantly from Nigeria. The School has approximately 25% of pupils who receive free school meals.
The school is fully inclusive and staff work hard to address the needs and challenges of all children. The children enter school with a wide range of abilities, some complex. We utilise a range of resources to meet the needs of all pupils.
The original school building dates back to the 1850s with additional classrooms and buildings added in the 1970s. Extensive building works have taken place recently to significantly expand and improve our school site and facilities.
St. Margaret’s CE Primary School overlooks Plumstead Common. The nearest train station/ DLR link is Woolwich Arsenal from where you can walk to the school in approximately 20 minutes or catch a 51 or 53 bus which stops close to St. Margaret’s Grove (ask for Trinity Church). There is free street parking in St. Margaret’s Grove at the front of the school.
