Class Teacher job summary

Would you like to be part of a team that loves creating exciting, fun and engaging learning with wonderful children from all over the world? If so, St Mary's Banbury is looking for two KS2 teachers to join the team from September 2025. These are permanent, full time posts due to the relocation of current team members and are suitable for teachers at the start of their career, looking for a development position or more established and looking for a new challenge. ECT's will be supported by our excellent, experienced mentors and tutors, more experienced teachers will have the opportunity to grow and develop their subject and professional interests to meet their own needs as well as those of the school and be supported through our extensive CPD opportunities to enhance their career profile.

St Mary's is the oldest school in Banbury, at the heart of the town and serving a highly diverse and culturally mixed community from across all local areas. With a flourishing Nursery and one form entry, we ensure children learn from their individual starting points with a highly inclusive philosophy ensuring every child gets what they need, when they need it. Driven by our Vision to 'Learn, Transform and Grow' , our curriculum is carefully organised to develop children's language and reading skills and ensure that mathematical development has an equally high priority. Foundation subjects are taught creatively, with children engaging in a high level of educational and cultural visits, events and activities and enabling learning to be a lived experience which they love to share with each other, their families and our community.

Specialist sport and music provision is further enhanced with Commando Joe's character education and our playtimes are the best! St Mary's is the proud holder of an OPAL Platinum Award for play, making our playtimes irresistible and some of the best anywhere! Our well established breakfast and after school clubs, provide support for working families as well as many children who love to stay and enjoy even more time in school. The children know they are loved and cared for with compassion and our wonderful support team help them and all our teachers to meet the needs of all, so that everyone is included to take a full and active part in school life.

Our teachers plan in teams, sharing the work load and having joint PPA whenever possible. Our wellbeing is a priority and this is a team that looks after each other and has fun together just as much as it is committed to great outcomes for the children. We work with our sister school, Wroxton Primary School, in an Executive partnership which gives exciting opportunities to work with colleagues in a much smaller, rural location five minutes away and to further enhance and grow our professional network and skills.

Supported by a school leadership team, committed local Governor and ODST this is an opportunity for an ambitious, positive and exciting teacher to make a difference in the lives of a wide range of children.
