Kingsteignton School are seeking to appoint an excellent class teacher - and proven leader - to join our team on a maternity basis.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about improving outcomes for all children and who has a proven track record in raising pupil attainment.

The successful candidate will prioritise building strong relationships and connections with all stakeholders and will have the vision, passion and drive to achieve excellent outcomes for all pupils. They will be a strong communicator and will model the high expectations they expect of their team on a daily basis. Furthermore, they will demonstrate a positive outlook, be solution-focused and will encourage all children to aspire and ‘dream big’.

The position is subject to a DBS enhanced disclosure check. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be required to provide evidence of their identity, their educational or professional qualifications as well as their registration with an appropriate professional body.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

The school is committed to developing their teachers and leaders and will - through the appraisal process - provide additional support to enhance the successful candidate’s teaching and leadership skills.

As this class teacher and team leader post is a Maternity Cover, it is subject to the associated conditions and will finish when the current post holder returns to school (predicted to be February 2027).

Kingsteignton School is a free school which opened its doors in September 2016

The new build school is state of the art with a very high specification, particularly in terms of technology and is situated on the outskirts of Kingsteignton.

The school, at present, has 225 pupils.

The school has recently become part of a wider community of schools – Education South West Trust.

Kingsteignton School is a ‘dementia – friendly’ school and, as part of this, we are very keen to develop healthy lifestyles for all our children and staff including growing and cooking our own home-grown food and embracing regular and varied exercise to keep physically and also mentally fit. As part of our dementia friendly ethos we are also very keen to embrace the use of the outdoor environment in as many areas of the curriculum as is possible.
