To start ASAP The post holder will be employed at a Grade 1, £12.65 ph, 10 to 15 hours per week

(Term time plus 20 days stand down during school closure periods)

We are seeking to appoint a reliable, hardworking and reliable cleaner to help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across our secondary school setting.

The post is part-time, Monday to Friday, 2-3 hours per day.

About the role:

Working under the direction and instruction of senior staff to undertake individually, or as part of a team, the cleaning of designated areas to ensure they are kept in a clean and hygienic condition. Common sense, initiative and flexibility are essential.

While experience in a school environment may be advantageous, it is by no means essential. We are more interested in finding the right person for the role, than the experience they bring to it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean classrooms, corridors, offices, toilets, and other areas as required, following established cleaning schedules.
  • Use appropriate cleaning products and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to the required standard, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and emptying bins.
  • Refill soap, sanitiser, and paper towel dispensers as necessary.
  • Report any maintenance or health and safety issues to the Site Manager promptly.
  • Maintain the security of cleaning equipment and materials.
  • Follow all school policies, including safeguarding and health & safety guidelines.
  • Assist with occasional deep cleaning and special projects during school holidays or as needed.

Experience

  • Previous cleaning experience is desirable, preferably in a school or similar environment.
  • Experience working as part of a team.

Qualifications and Training

  • No formal qualifications required, but basic literacy and numeracy skills are desirable.
  • Willingness to undertake any relevant training (e.g., COSHH, safeguarding).
