Join Our Team

Rainbow Forge Primary Academy is looking for a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic Cleaner to join our team and help us maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.

As a Cleaner, you will play an important role in ensuring that a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained throughout the Academy on a daily basis.


About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out a range of cleaning duties, including sweeping, dusting, wall washing, toilet cleaning, mopping and vacuuming.
  • Using appropriate cleaning equipment and materials safely and effectively.
  • Following COSHH guidance and relevant Health & Safety procedures.
  • Emptying litter bins and replenishing janitorial supplies.
  • Reporting any damage, hazards or concerns to the Site Manager, Caretaker or school office.
  • Ensuring windows and doors are securely closed when cleaning duties are complete.
  • Supporting planned cleaning programmes during Academy closure periods.
  • Taking responsibility for the care and safe use of cleaning equipment and materials.
  • Wearing appropriate protective clothing and equipment for the duties undertaken.

  • About You

    We are looking for someone who:

  • Has good verbal communication skills and sufficient literacy and numeracy to carry out the duties of the role.
  • Has experience using basic cleaning equipment.
  • Can organise and prioritise their own workload and work to deadlines.
  • Can follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Is able to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and other professionals.
  • Has a positive attitude towards learning, development and training.
  • Understands the importance of Health & Safety and personal responsibility.
  • Is committed to promoting equality, diversity, participation and responsibility.

  • Previous experience of working in a school or similar environment would be desirable, although a willingness to undertake relevant training is essential.

    Rainbow Forge Primary Academy is a larger than average sized primary school with approximately 360 children on role. We offer a nurturing, caring learning environment for children aged 2-11 years.

    Our Nursery provision is divided into three separate rooms based on age and stage of development with each having its own specifically designed outdoor learning area. On leaving nursery children enter the reception class which also has its own specially designed outdoor learning area and dining room.

    We offer a before and after school club for all children aged 2 -11 years in two separate spaces for the younger and older children.

    We are fortunate to have extensive outside areas where children can safely learn and play. Other facilities include a gym, art studio, library equipped with computers, laptops and i-pads, a separate dining hall and an assembly hall with a stage equipped with a sound and lighting rig.

    Creativity is an important part of life at Rainbow and we are proud to have been awarded the Silver Artsmark in recognition of our work.
