Cleaning Assistant job summary

Job Purpose

To assist in the maintenance of high standards of cleanliness and tidiness within cleaning routines under the direction of the Site Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

To carry out the cleaning of the premises under the general direction of the Site Manager.

To report to the Site Manager any matters that are likely to affect their work or other matters they consider that they should be aware of.

To use cleaning materials appropriately and economically; to inform the Site Manager when stocks are low.

To ensure that tools and equipment are in good working order, reporting any faults to the Site Manager.

To ensure that cleaners’ cupboards/lockers are kept clean and tidy.

To ensure that cleaning signs are placed in any wet or unsafe areas.

To undertake any non-routine cleaning tasks as instructed by the Site Manager. All cleaners are required to contribute to major cleaning tasks during the school summer holiday period.

To work to ALL guidelines at all times, in particularly in relation to Health & Safety at Work Policy. All cleaners must wear the personal protective equipment supplied.

To attend all essential Health and Safety courses or Child Protection courses as determined by the management of the school.

To maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of school related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information.

To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility as may be required.

Area of work is determined by the Site Manager and can be changed according to needs.

Hours of work and working areas will be determined by the Site Manager.

The tasks to be agreed with the Site Manager (morning or afternoon).

Hours to be mutually agreed with the Site Supervisor during school closure time.

General

Cooperating on all issues of health, safety and welfare.

Participate and engage in training and development activities as required.

Be aware of and comply with whole school policies and procedures ensuring you familiarise yourself regularly, particularly those relating to child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to an appropriate person.

In consultation with you, this job description may be reviewed and amended at any time in the light of changes to your role and responsibilities.
