What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a committed and community-minded person to join the Governing Body at Alverton Community Primary School as a Co-opted Governor. Our governors come from a range of backgrounds and work together to support the school, help shape its future and make sure that every child receives the best possible education.
As a governor, you would bring your own experience, ideas and perspective to the team. You would help to monitor the school’s educational and financial performance, support and challenge school leaders, and ensure that our values of kindness, respect and aspiration remain at the heart of everything we do. The role involves attending meetings, taking part in training and making a small number of visits to school to get to know the children, staff and wider school community.
You do not need to have worked in education or have previous experience as a governor. We are simply looking for someone who cares about the school and its community, enjoys working as part of a team and is willing to learn. It is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the life of the school.
What the school offers its staff
As a Co-opted Governor at Alverton Communit Primary School, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our pupils and the wider community. You will be part of a friendly and welcoming Governing Body, dedicated to ensuring our school continues to thrive.
Meetings
At Alverton, our governors meet ten times a year for approximately 1.5 hours in the evening (usually 5pm.)
For more information about our governors, please take a look at our school website.
If you are interested in the role and would like to have an informal chat, please contact our chair of governors at cofg@alverton.n-yorks.sch.uk
