Communications and Marketing Lead job summary

At Endeavour Learning Trust (ELT), we believe great communication starts with our people. As our trust continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Communications and Marketing Lead to strengthen how we communicate across the Trust with colleagues, pupils, parents and carers, prospective families and our wider communities.

This is a new and important role that will help shape how we share our vision, celebrate success and continue to build a strong sense of belonging across our Trust. Working closely with our communications partner, you will develop the Trust’s communications and marketing strategy and take internal ownership for its delivery, ensuring it is translated into effective activity across our schools.

You will create a more consistent approach to internal communications by bringing colleagues closer together, sharing best practice and making sure the incredible work happening across our schools is recognised.

You will also help ensure that the experience of communicating with ELT is consistent and coherent for parents and carers, working with schools to make the most effective use of the different channels available to them, from websites and social media to newsletters, email and other parent communications.

Alongside leading internal communications, you will have a natural eye for a story and a genuine curiosity about people. You will work closely with schools to uncover the achievements, experiences and community stories that show the difference ELT makes every day.

You will play an important role in ensuring schools are equipped and supported to communicate these stories effectively with their own communities, while identifying opportunities for stories to be shared more widely through Trust and external channels.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role for a communications professional who enjoys being close to the action. You will be someone who rolls up their sleeves, builds relationships quickly and turns information into engaging communications that connect with people.

In this role, you will line manage our Marketing Manager, providing leadership and support across school marketing activity, pupil recruitment communications, campaigns and events. Together, you will ensure marketing activity is strategically aligned, consistently delivered and supports schools to attract and engage prospective families. You will also take responsibility for maintaining consistency in how the ELT brand is represented across the Trust, working with the Marketing Manager to ensure the right tools, guidance and support are in place for schools.

About the role

You will consider the full range of audiences and channels used by ELT and its schools, helping to ensure communications to parents and carers are timely, consistent and joined-up, while supporting schools to make effective use of their own communications channels.

An important part of the role will be evaluating the impact of communications and marketing activity, using appropriate measures, audience insight and feedback to understand what is working, identify opportunities for improvement and demonstrate the value of the function.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

• Comes from a communications background and understands the difference between communications and marketing

• Has experience developing and delivering effective communications and implementing communications strategies across multiple audiences and channels

• Understands the uses of different forms of communication, including across social media, as well as how to communicate best with colleagues who aren’t based at a desk

• Has an instinctive eye for a story and knows what makes people stop, listen and engage

• Is an excellent writer and communicator, able to adapt messages for different audiences

You will be out across our schools, building relationships, asking questions, spotting opportunities and bringing those stories to life.

Experience working in education, the public sector or a complex organisation would be advantageous, but above all we are looking for an outstanding communications professional who wants to make a visible difference.

ROLE DETAILS

This position is full time and permanent, working 37 hours per week. Monday to Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm and Fridays 8:30am-4:00pm. Flexibility may be considered for the right candidate.

This role will be based at ELT Head Office (PR7 6TB) and travel between Trust schools and sites is an essential requirement of this role. Mileage will be reimbursed as appropriate.
