What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Course Leader for A Level Geology to join our team from August 2025. This position is part of a succession plan due to the upcoming retirement of our current Course Leader. The successful candidate will initially play a crucial shared leadership role, before taking over this high achieving programme completely from August 2026, continuing to shape the course into the future. We currently deliver Eduqas A level Geology (A480). The subject is a popular choice, with nearly 80 students currently studying Geology at QE.

Teachers in the College have very high expectations of both themselves and students, and the College is committed to developing a wide range of teaching for learning strategies. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and highly effective leader and manager. As well as maintaining up to date knowledge of developments in Geology, you will also be able to contribute to the teaching of other related curriculum areas.

What the school offers its staff

As well as a competitive salary and access to the Teachers' Pension Scheme, the College offers:

  • High quality CPD to ensure your continuous personal and professional development
  • A health cash plan providing help with dental and optical care amongst other benefits
  • Telephone helpline, GP appointments and counselling
  • Cycle to Work, Home and Tech schemes, providing cost effective funding plans
  • Marking Days, Wellbeing Week and good work-life balance initiatives

Commitment to safeguarding

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post and the successful applicant will either need to apply for a DBS or give the Trust consent to check their status if they are registered with the Update Service.

An online search will be undertaken for shortlisted candidates as part of the recruitment process on information available in the public domain. Candidates should disclose anything that may be relevant in line with KCSIE. This search does not form part of the shortlisting process and candidates will have the chance to discuss any issues of concern at interview.
