Cover and Interventions Teacher job summary

Plaistow Hill Primary and Nursery School is seeking a dedicated and flexible Teacher to join our team in a unique and rewarding 0.4 FTE role

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about both high-quality classroom teaching and helping pupils close gaps in learning through targeted intervention.

About the Cover and Interventions Teacher Role

This role is structured across two key areas:

  • 0.2 FTE - Year 4/5 Class Teacher
    You will teach within a mixed Year 4/5 class, providing high-quality teaching to cover the Assistant Headteacher’s release time. You will work closely with the class teacher and senior leaders to ensure continuity, strong progress and a positive learning experience for all pupils.

  • 0.2 FTE - Interventions Teacher
    You will plan, deliver and monitor targeted interventions for groups of pupils across the school, working closely with class teachers to identify needs, track progress and support pupils in achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality teaching that inspires, challenges and supports all learners
  • Plan, prepare, assess and report on pupils’ progress in line with school expectations
  • Deliver statutory and non-statutory assessments
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan and deliver effective targeted interventions
  • Track pupil progress and adapt provision where needed
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Uphold the school’s ethos, values and high expectations for all pupils
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and work effectively as part of a team
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with secure primary curriculum knowledge
  • Has experience of using assessment effectively to support pupil progress
  • Has the ability to work across different year groups and adapt practice accordingly
  • Has high expectations of all pupils and is committed to inclusion
  • Can build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • Is proactive, flexible and brings energy and initiative to the role
  • Is committed to professional development and collaborative working

Experience of delivering interventions or working across phases is desirable.
