What skills and experience we're looking for
Darwen Vale High School is looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to provide good quality regular cover of whole classes for short term absence and to provide support to students to promote effective participation, enhance individual learning, raise aspirations and achieve their full potential.
The successful Cover Supervisor will be required for 37 hours per week. Term Time plus INSET days.Responsibilities include coveringlessons when staff are absent, ensuring behaviour policies are followed and students are completing the cover work that has been left for them. There will be expectations that the successful Cover Supervisor will cover lessons across the subject and ability range so flexibility and confidence is essential.
It is essential that interested Cover Supervisors have previous experience working with children and young people.Behaviour management is also desired for this position.

Darwen Vale High School is an Aldridge Academy and as such, part of the national multi academy trust. At a more local level we are part of the North West Cluster of schools that includes 3 other secondary schools and 1 primary school.
Darwen Vale High School achieved unprecedented success in their 2019 examination results. Students performed at levels above national averages in many subjects with outstanding performances in English and Mathematics. Our Progress 8 score increased by 0.42, this means that every student’s performance in the 2018-2019 cohort has increased by almost half a grade in each subject compared to 2017-2018 results.
