Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday (8:30am - 3:30pm)

Contract: Term time only, plus five training days (Term time + 1 week) - Permanent

The Federation of North Walsham Infant and Junior Schools is seeking a dedicated and confident Cover Supervisor to join our teaching team. This is a vital role designed to ensure that high-quality learning continues seamlessly, whenever teachers are not in the classrooms.

As a Cover Supervisor, your primary responsibility is to supervise whole classes of pupils while they engage in learning activities. Some of the working week will be spent with children with SEND, supporting them both individually and in groups inside and outside of the classroom.You will act as a role model, setting high expectations for conduct and managing behaviour in line with school and Trust policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support for children with Special Educational Needs: Support children with SEND according to their Pupil Passports and promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.Support children in classes whilst the teacher is leading learning sessions, keep them on task and provide "live-marking" in line with school policies. Lead learning sessions with individuals and groups outside of the classroom.

  • Cover lessons: Cover classes on a regular and ad-hoc basis in the absence of the teacher.

  • Reporting: Record behavior or safeguarding concerns via our online recording systems and provide objective feedback to teachers on assessments.

  • School Support: Assist with lunchtime supervision, lead playground games, and accompany groups on school trips.

  • Administration: Use online systems such as Arbor, Read Write Inc, and Accelerated Reader to record data as needed.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who can work calmly under pressure and gain the respect of pupils through a confident and authoritative manner.

Essential Criteria:

  • GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C/5 or above).

  • Experience working in a school support capacity with pupils of relevant age.

  • Working knowledge of IT to support learning.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work constructively as part of a team.

  • The ability to form strong relationships with pupils from all backgrounds.

Desirable Criteria:

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification or current First Aid certificate.

  • Experience covering whole classes or working across multiple Key Stages.

  • Training in Norfolk Steps (Step On/Step Up).
