Curriculum Area Lead - English job summary

• Provide high quality leadership in all aspects of the role; line manage the department to improve outcomes; to challenge and promote professional accountability and consistent delivery of high quality teaching and learning across the curriculum area
• Improve standards of attainment, achievement and progress; develop, monitor, evaluate and review engaging, relevant and innovative schemes of work; enable students of all abilities to make excellent progress and achieve the best possible outcomes.
• Promote pedagogy that enables students to achieve excellent standards both in class and independently; ensure robust and effective assessment on student progress
• Ensure standards of student behaviour and attitudes to learning are consistently excellent.
• Analyse internal and nationally benchmarked data; plan strategic target setting, intervention programmes, track and monitor performance
• Provide enrichment activities and opportunities to work collaboratively
• Promote literacy and numeracy across the curriculum
• Contribute to the development of SMSC
