We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated, motivated and innovative Curriculum Leader of Music to join our Arts Faculty at Thomas Knyvett College. Alternatively we would be delighted to appoint a Teacher of Music who aspires to be our next Curriculum Leader of Music (The profiles for both positions can be viewed at the bottom of this advert). We are looking for an inspirational teacher who meets the Teacher Standards, with the ability to create a nurturing learning environment, together with a commitment to bringing out the best in every student.

You will be fully supported both within the faculty and by the senior leadership team. Our outstanding staff and students make us a great place to work. When you join us, you will be supported and developed through our extensive CPD programme and given a generous and effective PPA allocation to allow for a better work/life balance. Working in our school within The Howard Partnership Trust provides a wealth of opportunities to include excellent career progression options. Regardless of your experience or level of responsibility you will have access to a range of exciting opportunities to ensure you are improving your craft.

We are looking for staff to join our team who are passionate about improving students’ life chances and capable of contributing to a highly effective and supportive Music teaching team and our extensive enrichment programme.

Our outstanding staff and wonderful students make us a great place to work. Thomas Knyvett College, part of The Howard Partnership Trust (THPT), sets high standards for behaviour, promoting traditional values that will be important for life-long achievement. We believe that academic attainment flourishes in this atmosphere, enabling students to develop into confident and well-rounded young adults.

As an exceptional learning community, we have developed our vision and we are as ambitious as ever for our students and staff. We see the College as the central resource for learning and support in the local community and continue to strive for excellence in all we do.

Inspectors praised the ‘warm and respectful’ relationships and highlighted that ‘pupils behave very well’ and ‘there is a strong sense of everyone working together to fulfil the school motto of ‘bringing out the best’.

THPT value their staff very highly, as reflected in the excellent retention rates across the Trust. THPT also operate an extensive Rewards and Benefits Scheme that includes Loyalty & Service Awards, consideration of relocation packages, travel allowances and grants, access to discount schemes and membership of the Teacher Pension Scheme.

Interviews may happen before the closing date by mutual agreement, early applications are encouraged.

Thomas Knyvett College is a successful, over-subscribed school. We have made rapid and sustained progress over a number of years. However, we are not complacent and seek to ensure that we maintain our exceptional learning community. We see the College as the central resource for learning and support in the local community and continue to strive for excellence in all we do.

Whatever your present or future connection with the College may be, we want you to be part of our achievements, working together as part of the Thomas Knyvett community and sharing in our successes. If you are a student, please be assured that throughout your school career we will provide high levels of challenge and relevant support with a clear knowledge and understanding of your next steps. As a teacher we will support you to instil in the students a passion for your subject, deliver consistently good lessons and keep abreast of new techniques and research through the provision of high-quality CPD.

Students will be asked and encouraged to ask challenging and stimulating questions about the world in which they live, and the teacher will adapt in real time to meet the needs of every student. We work hard to ensure that our students have the skills and self-belief to compete and flourish in a changing educational and social environment, no matter how challenging.
