The Curriculum Technician plays a vital support role across three dynamic departments, Art, Technology and PE, assisting staff and students in the preparation, maintenance, and safe use of equipment and resources. This multifaceted position involves setting up materials for practical lessons, ensuring tools and apparatus are in good working order, supporting creative and physical activities, and helping to maintain a safe and engaging learning environment. The technician will work closely with teaching staff to facilitate hands-on learning, contribute to displays and exhibitions, and provide technical expertise to enhance the delivery of curriculum content. Flexibility, initiative, and a passion for supporting student achievement are key to success in this role.

Main responsibilities and tasks

  • Lesson Preparation Support – Assist teaching staff by preparing materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons across Art, Technology, and PE.

  • Equipment Maintenance – Ensure all machinery, tools, and sports equipment are regularly checked, cleaned, and maintained to meet health and safety standards.

  • Resource Management – Monitor and manage stock levels of materials and consumables, placing orders as needed to support curriculum delivery.

  • Health and Safety Compliance – Support the implementation of health and safety procedures, including risk assessments and safe storage of hazardous materials.

  • Technical Assistance – Provide hands-on support to students during practical sessions, helping them use equipment safely and effectively.

  • Display and Exhibition Support – Assist in mounting and maintaining displays of student work and preparing for exhibitions or school events.

  • ICT and AV Setup – Set up and maintain audio-visual and ICT equipment used in lessons, including projectors, cameras, and digital tools.

  • Facility Setup for PE – Prepare indoor and outdoor spaces for PE lessons, including setting up apparatus and ensuring safe playing conditions.

  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration – Work flexibly across departments, adapting to the varying needs of Art, Technology, and PE staff.

  • Administrative Support – Maintain accurate records of equipment use, servicing schedules, and inventory, and assist with departmental admin tasks when required.
