What skills and experience we're looking for
Our Deputy Head of School will have the skills and ability to provide vision and leadership for the school in partnership with the Executive Headteacher and Head of School, creating, maintaining and developing conditions that enable effective learning.
They will implement the aims of the school in accordance with the policies of the governing body so that the school’s mission, vision and values are fulfilled.
The successful candidate will make a significant contribution towards implementation and development of the following Key Accountabilities:
- Strategic Direction/Development
- Day to day operation of the school
- Teaching and Learning
- Leading and Managing Staff
- Efficient Deployment of Staff and Resources
- Accountability
What the school offers its staff
We are a Federation of two outstanding specialist
schools, across three sites for pupils with Complex Social and Communication Needs, Severe Learning
Difficulties and Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties, many of whom have ASD and/or additional diagnoses.
The successful candidate will benefit from the shared ethos, exciting vision and strong values of the Federation, with its emphasis on collaboration, staff development, support and commitment to achieving exceptional outcomes for all pupils. You will work collaboratively with the Executive Headteacher and Head of School as well as senior leaders from across the wider Federation.
In March 2025 the Federated Governing Body made the decision that Manor Mead and Walton Leigh will become academy schools within the London South East Academies Trust. As it stands the expectation is that the schools will officially transfer in November 2025 and this will provide an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to benefit from the wider benefits of working within a forward thinking, strong and supportive Multi Academy Trust.

Our Virginia Water site has provision for 60 primary aged pupils. The successful candidate will
have a range of leadership responsibilities.
