Deputy Head job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an
exceptional and ambitious leader to join Washwood Heath Academy’s Senior
Leadership team. We are seeking
to appoint a dynamic, inspirational, and forward-thinking Deputy Headteacher to
join Washwood Heath Academy and deliver an ‘All-through’ strategic lead for
safeguarding, attendance, behaviour and personal development and wellbeing.
This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for a committed
and talented leader to join the Washwood Heath Leadership team as Deputy
Headteacher leading on Pastoral. This position is fundamental to ensuring that
all pupils are safe and looked after, enjoy their time at Washwood Heath and
thrive within a friendly and welcoming setting. The successful candidate will be instrumental
in supporting our young people to become outstanding members of society and
ensure that all pupils strive and reach their full potential. Furthermore, the successful
candidate will work with a team of Assistant Heads to develop safeguarding and
pastoral care, building upon current strengths, as part of our journey to ‘Outstanding’.
The focus of this role is Pastoral, working with
the Head of Academy and senior leaders, including the Head of Primary Phase to:
- Provide
outstanding safeguarding for pupils - Develop
outstanding behaviour for learning - Provide excellent
pastoral care, guidance, and support - Effectively line
manage the pastoral senior and middle leadership team - Lead and oversee
personal development, behaviour, and welfare of pupils - Lead on inclusion
provision - Lead on whole
school attendance and admissions
The successful candidate will be able to
demonstrate a strong and proven track record of strategic leadership with the
ability to inspire and enthuse the whole school community. Applicants for this
role should be passionate advocates for excellent safeguarding and personal
development and developing a positive climate for learning and social
interaction around the Academy. We are looking for a self-motivated,
exceptionally well organised, and good team player to play a critical and
prominent role across the Academy.
Finally, we are
looking for an inspirational leader who has a natural presence and will be a
role-model to pupils, staff and the wider community. This role would be equally
suited to someone who is an aspiring Head or who would prefer to remain a
Deputy. Regardless of professional ambition, it is critical that the successful
candidate will be fully committed to ensuring that the pastoral care at
Washwood Heath is exceptional.
