Deputy Head Teacher – Curriculum, Standards & Strategic Direction

We are seeking to appoint a deputy head teacher to join our senior leadership team and help shape the next phase of our school’s development.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Head teacher to strengthen leadership capacity, further develop high-quality teaching and learning, and ensure the very best outcomes for all pupils.

The role has been carefully designed to provide clear and complementary leadership across the school.

The role will contribute fully to whole-school leadership, including school improvement, safeguarding and strategic development.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading key aspects of school improvement and the School Development Plan
  • Driving high standards of teaching, learning and pupil outcomes
  • Leading a core subject (English or Mathematics)
  • Supporting and developing middle leaders
  • Leading and supporting staff professional development
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive and high-expectation school culture
  • Acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Contributing to the day-to-day leadership of the school
  • In the absence of the Headteacher, the Deputy Headteacher will be responsible for the operational and strategic running of the school.

You will:

  • identify with the Christian mission and ethos of our school and its history
  • be a competent and strategic leader with a proven track record of school improvement, including raising the quality of teaching and learning beyond your own classroom
  • be passionate about providing high quality leadership and developing these skills further
  • be able to develop effective partnerships with staff, governors, parents and the wider community in order to help shape the future direction of the school
  • be aspirational for both our school and yourself
  • be able to think reflectively and creatively
  • be an excellent classroom practitioner
  • inspire, motivate and develop others
  • be committed to inclusive, trauma-informed approaches to behaviour and wellbeing
