What skills and experience we're looking for
St Mary’s CE Primary School is seeking a dynamic and professional Deputy Headteacher (non classed base) who is an outstanding practitioner, ready to influence whole‑school improvement and a proven ability to analyse data and use it to close learning gaps.
Key responsibilities:
- Deputising for the Headteacher and driving whole-school improvement
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing teaching staff to ensure outstanding outcomes
- Leading on teaching and learning, curriculum design and assessment tracking
Experience of:
- achieving high standards and relentless in securing strong outcomes for all children;
- Church school education
- Effectively leading/motivating children and staff and developing team approaches
- Improving outcomes for all children
- Experience of leading teaching and learning, curriculum and assessment across the school
- Experience of devising schemes of work
Knowledge of:
- Current national educational priorities, developments and strategies which meet the needs of all children
- Recent legislation, developments and initiatives in primary education
- The latest developments in safeguarding and child protection
- Understanding schools’ statutory responsibilities regarding the needs and care of students with SEND
- Understanding of data analysis
- Ability to analyse and present data effectively including progress and behaviour information
- Ability to lead, manage and prioritise effectively
- Ability to establish a positive ethos with an accent on high achievement for all
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing at all levels
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to set clear expectations and parameters and to hold others to account for their performance
- Ability to lead, manage and prioritise effectively
A current driving licence and your own transport is essential for travel across the Trust’s multiple sites and schools.

Once located across three sites in the town the current school was opened in 1991 by Dick King Smith.
